Get em Tiger

Tiger! The gray shape bird-dogged from side to side, working the current trying to locate the scent trail I was leaving. The first time she came in so fast, that she was bumping the chum before I could see the magnificent patterning on her sides. In under 4 feet of water shark fishing can be fast paced. I had several between 5′ and 7′ rushing in and flaring off, some hitting the chum and some turning a couple of feet short. I have learned to put my chum blocks in wire cages to prevent them from being ripped open or even totally bitten from their lines.

I was glad for the cage as the first Tiger of the year was excited and looking to eat. It turned and moved off, perhaps 8′ from the boat. I hand tossed the 12″ bait and she rolled on the surface to snatch it. A few seconds of open bail and as the line came tight our connection was secured.

All sharks are crazy in shallow water, the runs are more intense and longer as there is no depth to attempt to gain, it is all straight away.

Sight fishing for sharks adds so much to the adventure!
